Young Children And Pups
For as long as I can remember there has been a dog around our home. We’ve had muts, dogs with long pedigrees, rescued dogs, and dogs we’ve looked after while other members of the family were away on holidays.
The purpose of this article is to flag some issues a potential dog owner needs to think about when introducing a pup into a home where there are small children. I start from the belief that dogs and children go together like a horse and cart. However, because of a child’s unpredictability there are, however, a few issues that need flagged.
Shih Tzu - Toys and Special Treats
Inspect your dog’s toys often. If there are pieces bit off the toy, discard it. Usually small pieces of a toy or chew will pass through a dog’s system, but they could end up causing an intestinal blockage instead.
Flimsy vinyl or plastic toys or balls with squeakers and bells in them usually don’t hold up. Some shih tzu will just tear at the toy until they get the squeaker out. The squeakers and bells also pose a problem of your shih tzu choking on them if he tries to swallow the objects.
Rescue Dogs
We have all grown up with at least one hero in our life, but how many people can call their hero Duke or Spot? The answer- anyone who has had their life saved by a rescue dog.
Whether it is a house fire, tornado rubble, leftovers from an earthquake, or flowing water behind a hurricane front, these specially trained rescue dogs rush in with no concerns for their own welfare, pulling out victims, some dead and some still alive. They do this time and time again.
How To Get Your Dog To Stop Pulling On The Leash
It is really miserable walking a dog when he is constantly pulling on the leash. You can’t really take a relaxing walk when your arm feels like it is almost being pulled out of the socket and you are constantly yelling at your dog. I had this problem with my dog, and here is what I found out.
1. Use a harness or halter, not a collar.
Could Your Pets Affect Your Homeowner’s Insurance?
When we think about purchasing homeowner’s insurance, we usually think about factors like the neighborhood in which we live, the kinds of weather conditions we can expect in our region, the structure and surroundings of our home and how those can play into any injuries that could occur on the property, and yes, even whether or not our lender is forcing us to purchase the homeowner’s insurance in the first place.
What we tend to forget about, or simply not know about, is our pets can play a big role in our decision to purchase homeowner’s insurance; specifically, how much homeowner’s insurance we should purchase, and whether or not we’ll actually even be able to purchase homeowner’s insurance with a particular kind of pet.
All About Great Danes
One of the giant breed of dogs, the Great Danes, is going to be fully discussed in this article. Among the major topics, there are the general descriptions of the great dane. First, we must examine the size of this dog, as well as its attitude towards people.
Great danes are tall dogs even though they are not very heavy. Their popularity and beautiful physique have gained them the title of the “Apollo of Dogs.” Danes are loving, friendly, and affectionate when treated accordingly.
Great Dog Toys for Man’s Best Friend
Man’s best friend loves us but also loves to play so it is up to the owners to supply them with great, safe toys. They need a variety of toys so they have some they play with alone and others that are fun for them and yourself. Because they are such social animals many dogs hate to be alone even for a few hours. Sometimes, having a special toy brought out only when you will be away for a bit can relieve a little of your pets stress.
The Secret That Keeps Horses Trainable!
As you likely know already, horses have at least 10 times our strength. If they also had our intelligence, they would probably be riding us humans. Fortunately, horses cannot reason like human beings and therefore will never have superior intelligence.
Since they don’t have reasoning abilities, horse training becomes a challenge because you now have to understand how their intelligence works. You have to know what works and why to really be effective.
The biggest secret that makes it so we can train a horse is the fear of pain and/or punishment that our creator instilled in their mind. We can use that built-in fear to our advantage and teach the horse what we want him to do.
Train Your Dog To Be Your Frisbee Playing Buddy
On the surface playing Frisbee with your dog may seem like just a bit of fun, but this activity actually holds other benefits as well.
1. Certain breeds are accustomed to an active lifestyle, so, when they are forced to remain idle, they tend to create interesting diversions to entertain themselves. Unfortunately, their idea of fun may be something that you consider to be destructive behavior. Playing Frisbee with your dog may help to curb some of your dog’s destructive behavior by giving your pup an outlet for all of his pent-up energy.
